About this program
Families travelling from far away for long-term hospital treatment often have nowhere affordable to stay near the hospital. Mother Teresa Care Home, Vandanam was founded to meet exactly this need for patients and caregivers attending Alappuzha Medical College.
The project is known locally as 'Alivinte Susrusha' (the care of compassion). Today it focuses mainly on providing breakfast each morning to patients and families arriving at the medical college — a small, steady act of care at the start of a difficult day.
